Women’s Health

Working in women’s health is one of the key areas of my clinical practice as a Perth Naturopath and Herbalist. Natural medicine excels in managing the hormonal imbalances that impact a woman’s quality of life, from the teenage years through to perimenopause and beyond.

Hormonal imbalance seldom presents as an isolated symptom. More often it shows up as a cluster of seemingly unrelated symptoms: mood changes, skin issues, sleep disruption, fatigue, weight changes, that only make sense once the underlying hormonal picture is understood.

As a naturopath, my appoach is to look beyond the symptom itself and identify what’s causing the imbalance, whether that’s stress, blood sugar imbalance, nutrient deficiencies, gut health, liver detoxification pathways, or thyroid function, all of which are deeply interconnected with reproductive hormone health.

Some Areas of Women’s Health that I Support

  • Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
  • Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)

  • Painful periods (dysmenorrhoea)
  • Prolonged periods

A Naturopathic Approach to Women’s Health and Hormone Health

Every woman’s hormonal picture is different, which is why treatment begins with a thorough case history and, where appropriate, functional or standard pathology testing, to understand more about what is occuring. From there, a personalised treatment plan may draw on:

  • Herbal medicine: traditionally used to support healthy hormone regulation, cycle regularity, and stress resilience
  • Nutritional medicine: addressing deficiencies and imbalances that directly affect hormone production and metabolism
  • Lifestyle medicine: supporting the sleep, stress, and nervous system regulation that influences hormonal balance (see our Mental Heath and Wellbeing page)
  • Gut and liver support: since healthy digestion and detoxification pathways play a key role in clearing excess hormones from the body (see our Digestion and Gut Health page)

The goal is not simply to manage symptoms, but to identify and address their underlying causes, supporting your body’s own capacity to find balance.
